State Assemblymember Holly J. Mitchell (D-54th District) has announced her bid for the 26th State Senate District.   The seat was vacated by Curren Price, who was elected to the Los Angeles City Council representing the 9th District.

A special election to fill the seat  is scheduled for September 17th, and if no candidate receives more than 50% of the vote, a run-off will be held on November 5th.

“I’m running for Senate to expand the fight for our families, our communities, and the needs of all residents of our state. I’ve dedicated my career to improving the lives of the neediest and most vulnerable – and I’ll make the issues most important to Californians my priorities in the Senate, such as healthcare, education, jobs, and the safety of our neighborhoods,” said Assemblymember Mitchell.
