Influential leader calls top candidate in 9th District race
“a trusted leader with a record of achievement and results.”
California Assembly Speaker John A. Pérez today endorsed Sen. Curren Price for City Council, calling him “a thoughtful and effective leader who is eminently qualified to find solutions to the challenges facing Los Angeles.”
Pérez said the support Price has earned in the business and labor communities “is a clear reflection of Senator Price’s long track record of bringing people together to find answers to often difficult questions. He is a trusted leader with a record of achievement and results.”
With Election Day less than one month away, Price possesses a strong advantage over his opponent in both endorsements and fundraising. Reacting to the Speaker’s endorsement, Price called Pérez “a great leader who has played a key role in guiding our state onto stronger economic footing. I am grateful for his support, and eager to get to City Hall and begin working on building a new 9th District. The strong and trusting relationships I have built with leaders at all levels of government will pay dividends for our friends and neighbors in the 9th District. Speaker Pérez’s support for this campaign means a lot to me personally, because he too represents Southeast Los Angeles.”
Every day, the broad coalition behind the Curren Price for City Council campaign continues to expand. Officially endorsed by the Los Angeles County Federation of Labor and Democratic Party, Price is also supported by Los Angeles Mayor Antonio Villaraigosa; L.A. County Supervisor Mark Ridley-Thomas; L.A. City Council President Herb Wesson Jr.; L.A. City Councilwoman Jan Perry of the 9th District; State Sen.
